KITCHEN
Welcome to my favorite room in this house! When we purchased this home, the kitchen was... well, let me not mince words, it was horrific. Half of the cabinets didn't have backs (hello, mice!), the sink's cast iron enamel coating was so bad that we couldn't set dishes down without fear of further chips and cracks, and the washer and dryer sat in the butler's pantry, draining into a sink that would splash onto the floor if left unattended during a wash cycle. As I said, truly horrific. BUT! The kitchen had potential! After two years of careful planning, dreaming, saving, and penny-pinching, we finally began our much-needed renovation in June of 2021.

SO glad you asked. There is nothing I love chatting about more than the paintings I have in my kitchen. Most are senitmental and hold meaning for me, as any art you put in your home should. See full blog post here with all the details and highlight on each artist and their work.

The Details
First lets tackle the confusing definitions of Fixtures vs Finishes since 'Appliances' is pretty straight forward. Think of 'Fixture' as anything that is FIXED to the home such as cabinets, lighting and so forth. Finishes are the touches that might adorn the Fixtures; think hardware, pot rail, etc. Find all the details of the JuliaCurated Kitchen below.

How I Source My Kitchen
When buying "things" for this room I like to focus on infusing handscrafted or artisan made items. I will always opt for vintage and antique over new but if I *Have* to buy new then I try to source items that are made of sold, high-quality materials. This room should be an expression of my aesthetic and style, so I avoid buying items that are trendy. I want this to be a timeless space with beauty that lasts for years to come.
